Konnie Huq Meets The Queen

"Time for tea," said the Queen and Konnie Huq, along with other ex Blue Peter presenters, went inside Buckingham Palace.

The occasion was the 50th anniversary of Blue Peter so we saw the likes of Konnie Huq with John Noakes, Lesley Judd, Peter Purvis, Diane-Louise Jarvis and Valerie Singleton line up to be presented to the monarch.

And, of course, tea wouldn't be tea without cake. The royal chef baked a big one with white ice and the blue and white ship Blue Peter logo.

A good time was had by all.

Konnie Huq Supports An End To Child Poverty

Konnie Huq has been giving her support to the Campaign to End Child Poverty.

It seems that there are pockets of the UK where poverty exists and there are millions more children being failed by the system. In Glasgow, for example, 98% of children are living below the poverty line.

Konnie said, "It's terrible that there are so many children living in poverty."

Konnie Huq Wears Her Blue Peter Badge For 50th Anniversary

It's nearly time for Blue Peter to celebrate it's anniversary. Next month it will be 50 years old, yes it started way back in 1958.

Konnie Huq was with Blue Peter for 10 of those years and has been reflecting on her time on the program. She told Weekend magazine:

"The most memorable moment - and there were many - has to be returning to the Bangladeshi village in which many of my family had lived. I met members of my extended family and I remember thinking, 'If my parents hadn't come over to Britain, I'd be living in the village now.' It was bizarre, but extremely moving to film there."

Konnie went on to say, "I often say I feel 22 not 33 because those ten years of my life have been consumed with Blue Peter. The team became like my family and it was hard to say goodbye."

There was excitement this morning for Konnie Huq watchers as she appeared on GMTV wearing a bikini!

Why was she in a bikini? So that Konnie could tell viewers how they could win a break in Spain. This also necessitated her walking along a beach, to demonstrate that Spain has beaches!

At the moment Konnie is helping present the BBC's online magazine Thread. It's a monthly fashion magazine dedicated to bringing the latest in 'eco-fabulous style.'

Is Konnie Huq A Possible For GMTV

As you may have read Fiona Phillips is leaving GMTV so that means a replacement is required.

One of the names bandied about as a possible is none other than Konnie Huq.

But there are also a few other names in the mix as well including Michelle Morrison GMTV's news reporter, GMTV's Tiffany Royce, Myleene Klass and Holly Willoughby.

As for GMTV they are playing it cool, "Fiona's only just made her announcement and has several months to go before she leaves. We've got some time to be looking at this and won't be rushing in to decisions."

So can you see Konnie on the sofa early mornings? Personally I doubt it.

Konnie Huq Television News

Konnie Huq has just returned from making a documentary in Afghanistan. It's all about the poor maternity mortality rates in that country.

Konnie says about these, "One woman dies every 28 minutes through lack of education. It is a shocking statistic."

On a happier note Konnie is also doing a pilot for television of a fashion based show.

Konnie Huq: Could She Have Been Wonder Woman?

Konnie Huq has been telling Henry Deedes of the Independent as to how her life may have worked out differently.

Konnie originally wanted to be an actress but felt that there weren't many suitable roles for Asian girls. She told Henry:

"That's how I started out. I was in the National Youth Music Theatre with Jude Law, Matt Lucas – those sorts of people – about 10 years ago. Asians could not get a part except as a repressed daughter on EastEnders – no period dramas, nothing. I could try now but I wouldn't know what to do. I'm a presenter now."

How things might have been, who knows, perhaps even Wonder Woman ...
