It can be a tough life as a television presenter. Poor old Konnie Huq has had to go all the way to St Lucia in the Caribbean to do a report for the Mail on Sunday. She even had to strip down and show off her cleavage in a yellow bikini. Tough or what.

As hard as it was though it sounds like she did manage to have a good time as she writes, "From about 10pm, people start dancing and - later - bumping and grinding to the music booming out from the massive speakers. This goes on till the early hours and can get a bit fruity! But it is a fabulous way to experience proper Caribbean life with a 50-50 mix of tourists and locals."

Konnie Huq has done a travel review for the Daily Mail called Sicily: Taormina, a dramatic retreat to the ruins.

Konnie starts by writing:

"Taormina oozes charm and beauty. It can be found on Sicily's east coast, with its centre looking out across the Mediterranean and its precariously balanced houses, cafes and restaurants cascading towards the coast."

She goes on to write a positive review on Taormina but does add a warning, "Speaking of tourists, Taormina is meant to be hell in August. Avoid that and you'll be in for a big surprise."

Konnie Huq will be presenting a new television show, for the Disney Channel, alongside Duncan James based on the Hannah Montana character. It's a contest where the winners will be crowned Hannah-oke Champions. And, yes, there will be the inevitable judges: Nicki Chapman, Jason Gardiner and Disney Channel star Brad Kavanagh.

It all kicks off on Friday, May 15th at 6pm.

Thought we had better catch up on the Konnie Huq news.

As most of her admirers no doubt know Konnie has at last posed for one of the men's mags: FHM along with Zoe Salmon. The photos have been promoted as the Battle of Blue Peter for the May cover. So why have FHM done this? This is what they say:

"Why? Basically, because of these two. Konnie Huq and Zoe Salmon. As catalysts to many a burgeoning childhood sexuality, they made Blue Peter a ship worth sailing in: and so, to mark their recent departures and see them off into pastures new, FHM have exclusively shot both for our May 'Battle of Blue Peter' cover.

The photos are very tasteful, no boobs hanging out or g-strings! Though she does pose in silk comisole and matching knickers. For more info see the FHM website.

Moving on, Konnie revealed to Now magazine about how she had a bat in her bra while filming Blue Peter. Konnie commented, "I said stuff like, 'Ooh, it’s very at home down there.' It sounded really wrong!"

Leaving you to dwell on that thought and swiftly moving on to something more serious. It seems that sociologists Elizabeth Gorman of the University of Virginia and Julie Kmec of Washington State University, British and American women think they have to work harder than men.

And now spots! Konnie Huq told the Mirror about her favourite treatment for spots. Her advice? "I don’t get acne, but I sometimes get the odd spot and then I use Origins Spot Remover, £9.79. I discovered it when I had a bad spot at work and a make-up lady put it on me. It had gone down loads by the next day."

So there you go.

And finally Konnie is to be a judge, along with the likes of Woody Harrelson, Jon Snow and Monty Don, for the Observer Ethical Awards, which are being supported by the ecological manufacturer, Ecover.

Konnie Huq hopes to bounce to a world record! She is replacing Fearne Cotton on Sky 1's Guinness World Records and her first challenge will be to try and set a new record for bouncing on a trampoline course. The mind boggles.

Konnie said, "I've been training to get fit and it's been pure hell. I'm not particularly fit, I never go to the gym so trying to break the record for the number of bounces on the world's biggest trampoline course will be pretty hard work. I had to trampoline for my Blue Peter audition, but this is a lot tougher."

Back in 2007 Radio 1 and 1Xtra did a survey to see how people felt about their bodies and more than 25,000 people took part. 50% of females said they would consider plastic surgery.

In her position as a BBC presenter Konnie Huq takes a look at why people are choosing to have plastic surgery. You can hear the documentary on Radio 1Xtra here.

In the survey 10% if 18-24 year olds hated the way they looked. Also a quarter of the men who took part said they would think about going under the knife. Frightening stuff!

As for the photo - it shows why Konnie doesn't need plastic surgery herself and also why Playboy were reportedly offering her good money to do a photo spread. She declined, of course.

Konnie Huq has won an award. Okay, not a very good one but it's still an award. She won a Morgan Award. "A what?" you may ask. It's something to do with Piers Morgan and, as he's very full of himself, he gave the trophy his name.

The awards are all about getting back at celebs who slap themselves on the back when going to more notable award occasions. So what did Konnie win hers for?

Not too sure if it's very clear but this is what Piers said, "My first Morgan goes to someone who told me just before she left Blue Peter, 'I can’t think how to do it with a bang. Richard Bacon did drugs, Peter Duncan did porn, Janet Ellis did unmarried pregnancy, I’m left with bestiality, but I think that might be a bit strong for Blue Peter…'"

My favourite Quality Street chocolate is always the one with the purple wrapper - it's hazelnut and soft caramel. I got to thinking about this when I saw this photo of Konnie Huq and her purple party frock.

And while thinking about sweets Konnie has categorically denied that she ever stole sweets from Woolworths.

Konnie Huq has given an interview to the Mirror and was asked if she ever felt like doing something drastic to shed her goody-goody image. Konnie answered:

"If I wore a low-cut dress or showed my cleavage or did lad’s mags, people would make such a big deal. That has stopped me from doing it, but I would if it felt right. Maybe I could do some indie film and get my kit off. I’d never say never."

She's obviously quite domesticated though and this was the last thing she did in that direction:

There has been gossip that Konnie Huq will write a book spilling all the secrets and scandal about Blue Peter.

Over 10 years she obviously saw and heard a lot about the show. She knew, for example, about Valerie Singleton's ding dong with Peter Purves before it became public knowledge. But there are many more skeletons in the cupboard just waiting to be let loose.

"The most memorable moment - and there were many - has to be returning to the Bangladeshi village in which many of my family had lived. I met members of my extended family and I remember thinking, 'If my parents hadn't come over to Britain, I'd be living in the village now.' It was bizarre, but extremely moving to film there."

"I've been trying to read Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time but it's hard to find the time to make myself concentrate properly. I read Bill Bryson's A Short History of Nearly Everything so thought I'd try Hawking's book to remind myself of my background in science - I did physics, chemistry and maths A-levels.

I'm trying to start reading books that you gain knowledge from in order to challenge myself more. As a rule, I tend to read easy reading/populist-type books, but I don't feel like I'm learning enough. That said, I'm looking forward to reading Mark Frith's book about his time as the editor of Heat magazine."

It appears that Konnie Huq has been giving property advice to Zoe Salmon, who is now also leaving Blue Peter on June 24th this year.

Zoe has bought a two bedroom flat in a Grade II listed Art deco development near to where Konnie lives in Ealing. The flat also has the benefits of a clubhouse, swimming pool and tennis courts.

Zoe said about Konnie, "She's really into property and knows London much better than I do."

Some people it seems still have faith in the UK property market - despite forecasts that prices could dip by as much as 9% this year.

"When people talk of a 'real career' you think lawyer or teacher. But not everyone wants to do that. So in a way, if your option is stacking shelves or being Chantelle, wouldn’t you take your opportunities when you could? Much in life depends on what you would have done anyway. And as celebrity culture is so skewed towards women’s fashion and appearance, people focus more on these girls. So the blokes from Big Brother fade into oblivion."

There is an interesting interview on Konnie Huq in today's The Independent.

She talks of her school life:

"We had a 'wormery' and my friend and I were in charge of the 'snailery' with about five snails. I loved drama and was in The Crucible. I was on Blue Peter at 14 with the National Youth Music Theatre – I sang a solo. When I was in the sixth form I presented a cable and satellite programme about music, television and video. I used to do public speaking competitions. There were teams of three. It sounds so middle-class!"

And finishes with her university life:

"I got a 2:1. Our tutors had to recommend high-flying students to the Bank of England; our director of studies recommended me. The two people I met at the Bank were both wearing suits: brown, not grey or black. It turned out to be dress-down day. I remember thinking, 'If this is dress-down day, what are the ordinary days like?' There was an aptitude test; I did it really badly."

Following her ordeal with the Olympic torch it's good to see that Konnie Huq has been signed up to present a television series all about zoo animals.

Zoo Days will follow Colchester Zoo as it opens it's doors to the public.

Zoo Days will be on Channel 5 and the 20 episodes will be shown later this year.

"As I was running with the torch a guy broke out from the crowd and wrestled the torch, or tried to wrestle the torch off me.

I was determined to hang on, it was all a bit of a shock, for a while I was wrestling with it, then they wrestled him to the ground. There were so many people and everyone was shouting 'just keep going'. It was a bit surreal.

I was a bit bashed about but I guess that's par for the course in such a little brawl.

I always said my taking part in the procession didn't mean I condone China in any way. And I think a lot of the torch bearers and the athletes feel the same way.

I did the procession because I believe in the Olympic values, the ideals, I think sport on a global scale is a brilliant thing, it transcends culture, race, money.

The Olympic ethos is a great thing, it's just a shame China has such a terrible track record when it comes to human rights.

I understand the cause completely, but this is the platform on which change can occur, all eyes will be on the Olympics, media from all across the world so if any good can come out of it, that's a really great thing"

So what will Konnie be doing after her reign at Blue Peter? Konnie said:

"I think put my feet up. I've lined up lots of corporate work because suddenly I can do those - our schedules are so manic on Blue Peter that I couldn't do much, so now I've done the hard slog. It's random things.

Konnie said, "Oh my gosh, I must be getting on a bit. It's great to have been in a job that I love for so long."

Konnie Huq has been talking about 'that' dress which got her so much publicity when she wore it to the Spiderman 3 premiere - it wasn't actually her dress!

The dress belonged to Myleene Klass. Konnie didn't have time to go home prior to the premiere to change so she rumaged through a rack of dresses in her agent's office and picked out one that belonged to Myleene.

Konnie says, "Everyone thought this was my new sexy image now that I'm leaving Blue Peter. I'm not complaining because it's nice to dress up. But if I had worn one of my own dresses I would not have been in the papers."

Konnie Huq is getting prepared for when she leaves Blue Peter in February. It's been released that she will front a political and current affairs chat show.

The programme will be called London Talking and will be about various issued that effect the capital. The timing is a bit odd as it will go head to head with BBC1's Question Time. Konnie said, "I can't quite believe I will be going against David Dimbleby. The show is not going to be as high brow as Question Time."

On a more serious note than usual Konnie Huq has been talking to 'self-harmers' on the Asian Network Report.

It seems that, according to the charity Sane, there is almost an epidemic of self-harming among British Asians, where women aged 18-24, are three times more likely than white people to be hospitalised after cutting. Also the suicide rate for Asian women is nearly twice the national average.

As an ambassador for the British Red Cross Konnie Huq has been commenting this week on two of their current campaigns.

First there is the British Red Cross Don't Be A Bystander campaign, which is aimed at giving youngsters aged nine to thirteen practical life saving skills. This is being backed by Toyota.

Konnie Huq said: "The campaign has been an incredible success in reaching so many young people with first aid training – an essential life skill. Our key message throughout has been ‘Don’t be a bystander. Be someone. Learn first aid.’ and these young people are now equipped to make a difference when it really matters."

The second is Dance For Life.

Following the success of Dance for Life over the past two years, dancers are being urged to get on their dancing shoes and take part in one of the biggest celebrations of youth dance.

Konnie Huq commented, "Dance for Life offers such a wonderful opportunity for all young people to perform in a fun and friendly environment."

Konnie Huq is going to reveal all! Not sure how shocking this will be but when Konnie finally leaves Blue Peter she wants to write a book about her life behind the scenes and the background to those scandals.

Konnie Huq said, "I'd like to write a book about everything that goes on. After all, I have been there for ten years so it's time I wrote something about it."

It's reported that she could get up to £500,000 for a book deal, especially if she also tells about her relationship with Richard Bacon. Their relationship ended last year.

Yes the name for the cat had been rigged, so the phone call voting was really a waste of time for viewers.

Konnie was with Zoe Salmon to make the apology. After explaining what had happened Zoe said, "That was wrong so today we'd like to say sorry."

And Konnie continued with, "Yes we would, and what better way to say sorry than with this cute thing," and she held up Socks, the wrongly named cat.

Konnie Huq appeared on BBC's One Show last night trying on a corset!

This was a supposed test so that Konnie could find out what it would be like to wear an old fashioned corset. Konnie's normal 26" waist was pulled in to 23".

She wore the garment for a day and found that it was difficult to bend and that it was very restrictive. It also reduced her lung capacity. Unfortunately we don't have any photos so it's a good excuse to use one of her in 'that' dress!

Konnie will be on television again tonight on the same programme at 7pm.

"I've interviewed the Queen and the Princes, which was a great honour.

The weirdest was Brad Pitt. I interviewed him about a film he was promoting. He looked weird because he had really long hair and he was trying to be funny, but all his jokes were falling flat and it was just embarrassing.

The BBC has warned Konnie Huq about political bias after she took part in a press conference with London mayor Ken Livingstone.

The BBC has been fined £50,000 for running which was in effect a fake phone-in competition.

Callers rang a Blue Peter competition line but, because of technical problems, a young girl from the studio was used as the prize winner.

When caught out Konnie Huq and the other Blue Peter presenters did an on air apology - which you can see in the video below. This did not, however, satisfy Ofcom who said there were 'serious breaches in the broadcasting code' which amounted to 'deception'.

The Daily Mail reports on the Konnie Huq flats dispute and it looks like Konnie came out on top. This is some of what the Daily Mail write:

'Konnie Huq has won a battle against estate agents' firm amid claims they demanded thousands of pounds for needless repairs.

Miss Huq was preparing to take a stand against Foxtons after the firm carried out 'emergency' work costing more than £17,000 on flats she rents through the company to tenants.

The TV star said the work was unnecessary and refused to pay the estate agents more than £4,500 in lettings fees.

She was summonsed to court by the firm - but yesterday the 31-year-old appeared to have won an 11th hour victory after Foxtons dropped the case against her just hours before it was due to be heard before a judge.'

Konnie Huq has just been giving her opinions on the UK Big Brother television programme.

She would like the winner to be Liam as he is 'sweet'. She realises that this would mean he would receive £200,000 but she liked his reaction when he was told that he had won £100,000. (Liam cried when he got the news.)

As regards the Ziggy, Chanelle, Billi triangle Konnie Huq hopes Ziggy comes out on top - if that's the right expression. She has previously met Ziggy, before he went into the house, but he called himself Zac then.

When asked which of the Big Brother boys she fancied most her answer was 'none of them.' Hard luck guys!

After recent snatched Konnie Huq photos it's back to that Spiderman Premier low cut dress today. It's the photo that really started a new interest in Konnie. "How did it stay in place?", many asked. "Sticky backed plastic," was the obvious set reply.

Whatever the answer the dress certainly got the attention of the UK public and no doubt created the image that Konnie Huq wanted to project. She is, after all, leaving Blue Peter soon and needs to move forward in her career. This dress may well have helped.
